Investment key to Alltube’s ambitious growth plans

Alltube Engineering took delivery of a new Faro coordinate measuring machine recently – the next step in a series of investments in machinery that its management have planned to enable the company to continue its growth.

Daventry-based Alltube is a sub-contractor that manufactures tube manipulations, fabrications and high-pressure hydraulic hose assemblies as well as supplying hydraulic kits, which include pipework, hoses, fittings, clamps and the like.

The company specialises in small to medium-sized product runs for customers, from one-offs through to volume production. It supplies most of its work to UK OEMs in a variety of sectors including automotive and industrial.

Philip Houghton, Alltube’s Commercial Director, said the Faro machine is the next in a number of investments the company has planned as part of its one-, three- and five-year plans. “We plan to continue to grow the business in terms of market sectors and the services we can offer,” he said.

The new machine brings benefits to Alltube and its customers, Philip said. “For instance, information from the Faro arm can be downloaded directly to our CNC bending machines, which will eliminate any potential inputting errors and means we can get into production that bit quicker, reducing downtime.”

For customers, the Faro arm is portable, so Alltube can take it to their sites and take measurements right at the early development stage. It will also help when any reverse engineering of parts is needed.

Alltube will be exhibiting examples of its fabrication, tube manipulation, bending, high pressure hydraulic hose assemblies, fittings and small assemblies at the forthcoming Made in the Midlands Expo.

The company will be exhibiting for the first time– indeed, it will be the first time the company has exhibited anywhere. “We have been a Made in the Midlands member for a couple of years and we visited last year’s Expo and from that we decided to give it a try,” said Philip.

“It is a relatively compact hall and a one-day event so it will be a good introduction to exhibiting for us. As an established Midlands manufacturer, we felt it was important for us to exhibit, enabling us to reach existing and potential clients in one day.”
